KVBW State Championships for U16 & U18: 1x silver and 1x bronze

This year’s KVBW State Championships for youth and juniors took place in Achern on 25 October 2025. Two Dhammika karatekas competed in the U18 male age group: Abdullah Samid (SC Ilsfeld) and Sanidu Hewa (Dhammika Karate-Do Seebronn). They competed in the karate discipline “kata”, in which the current state champion, Joel Bracher, also competed.

Abduallah was unfortunate in the draw, as he was placed in the same group as Joel Bracher, the reigning Kata State Champion, and had to compete against him in the preliminary round. Despite being less experienced than his rivals, Abduallah performed very well in his kata routines. He finished second in his group. Ultimately, Abduallah Samid finished the U18 male kata competition in an impressive third place.
Sanidu Hewa was luckier in the draw, securing first place in his group and moving on to the final. In the final, Sanidu performed well in his kata against the German national squad athlete, but his opponent was simply too strong on the day. Nevertheless, Sanidu was delighted with second place.

Both Abduallah and Sanidu gained valuable experience in Achern. Both demonstrated their potential through their performances, confirming their progress. These are results that can be built upon in future tournaments. Thanks to their results, Abduallah Samid and Sanidu Hewa have qualified for the German Championships in Chemnitz. Congratulations to both fighters on winning silver and bronze and to Joel Bracher for his performance. We look forward to the upcoming tournaments and the continued development of our young karateka.
