Last Saturday, 1 July 2023, this year’s kyu examinations took place in Ditzingen-Hirschlanden for the karatekas from the karate department of Hirschlanden-Schöckingen 1947 e.V. sports club. Under the guidance of the founder of Japan Karate-Do Dhammika-Ha Shitoryu Kai, Shihan Athula Minithanthri, and SVGG karate department head Sensei Uli Hasenknox, a total of 14 participants were able to demonstrate their skills and meet the requirements of a kyu examination.
In accordance with the examination programme, the candidates were tested on their knowledge of basic techniques (kihon), katas and bunkai. Specific kumite techniques were also tested. During the examination, attention was paid to accuracy depending on the kyu grade being sought. All examinees were well prepared and successfully passed their examinations. This was celebrated with the presentation of a certificate and a new coloured karate belt.
Both examiner Shihan Athula and trainer Ulrich Hasenkox were very satisfied with the candidates’ performances.

We congratulate all examinees on passing their exams and wish them continued enjoyment and success in karate.
