On Saturday, 22 April 2023, the KVBW Regio Cup North was held at the Hardwaldhalle in Eppingen. The coaching team, led by Shihan Athula, was delighted that children from the Dhammika Karate-do dojos in Abstatt and Ditzingen took part in this junior tournament, organised by the Baden-Württemberg Karate Association (KVBW). The team was very pleased with the performances, especially considering that some of the children had only recently started practising karate. Ultimately, they secured five podium places!
Laura P. (from the Abstatt dojo) and Leon de S. (from the Ditzingen dojo) reached the second round of the kata discipline impressively, but were narrowly eliminated in fourth place – only the top three from the second round advanced to the final round.

Bennet W., who trains at the Abstatt dojo, also performed well, losing by a narrow margin. Lenox S., who is also from the Abstatt dojo, reached the final round with confidence. Unfortunately, he was disqualified due to a mistake at the end of his kata routine. The siblings Shakthee Sree and Ranjana R., who train at the SVGG Hirschlanden-Schöckingen Dhammika Karate department, fared better. Shakthee Sree secured second place in the ‘Pupils B, Girls’ category. Her older sister, Ranjanaa, secured third place in the ‘Pupils A, Girls’ category. Luke also secured a podium place in the kata discipline. He achieved a strong second place in the ‘Children, Boys’ category.
The brothers Luke and Leon also competed in kumite. Unfortunately, Luke lost both of his fights narrowly, with scores of 3:4 and 3:3 against Senchu. However, his brother fared better and was rewarded with a place on the podium.
Kata:

🥈Shakthee sree (Kids Female)
🥈Luke (Kids Male)

Congratulations to all the children on their fantastic performances and achievements. We are already looking forward to the next tournament!
