The German Championships for the U21 and Master classes took place on 27 and 28 September in the Aller-Weser-Halle in Verden. The event was organised by the Bushido Verden karate club. A total of 267 competitors took part, including karateka from the Dhammika Karate Do clubs.
Our athletes’ participation at the German Championships

A total of three karateka from Dhammika Karate-Do took part: Oxana Traiber and Oleg Osijuk from Dhammika Karate-Do Amorbach, and Chandrasiri Hewa from Dhammika Karate-Do Rottenburg.
Oxana Traiber achieved respectable success
Oxana competed in the women’s individual kata +45yrs and women’s individual kumite -60kg disciplines. Although her ‘Tomari Bassai’ kata performance was technically flawless, she was defeated by her opponent and eliminated from the competition. In the kumite discipline, in which she had only been training for a few weeks, she fought her way surprisingly to the final. There, she fought for the gold medal but was defeated 0–3, securing a very strong second place.
Oleg Osijuk: Via repechage round to the bronze medal
Oleg competed in the men’s individual kumite category +30yrs -80kg. After a narrow 1:3 defeat in his opening match, his opponent made it to the final which opened the door for Oleg to enter the repechage round. There, he impressed with a clear 8:0 victory and ultimately secured third place.
Chandrasiri Hewa also on the podium
Chandrasiri Hewa also competed and put in a great performance in the men’s individual kata +55yrs category. He won the final and took home the gold medal.

Another karate club’s success
With confidence and strong performances, Kai Ringwald from Ettenheim, who belongs to our partner club Shinbukai Ettenheim, also secured the gold medal in the men’s kata individual over-30 category.
We congratulate all karateka on their commitment and success, as well as on their strong representation of Dhammika Karate-Do at the German U21 and Master Class Championships in Verden.
