This year’s Regio Cup West took place last weekend in Baden-Baden. Laura (Kata) and Lenox (Kumite) from Dhammika Karate-Do Abstatt, as well as the two sibling pairs Shakthee sree and Ranjanaa and Luke and Leon from SVGG Hirschlanden-Schöckingen took part. All children showed great performances at the tournament and achieved several placings. Laura once again did a good job, as did Shakthee sree. Both took second place in their kata category. Leon also put in a good performance and was rewarded with fourth place, making it onto the podium. Things went even better in kumite. He finished his competition in second place. Lenox did the same and also took a great second place. Luke and Ranjanaa, on the other hand, were a little out of luck. Although they both delivered great performances like the others, they didn’t quite make it to the podium this time.
At the same time as the Regio Cup West for kids, the Baden-Württemberg state championships for the master class took place for adults. Steffi, the mother of Luke and Leon, was competing in a tournament for the first time. Although she has only been practising karate for about 10 months, she was able to celebrate a great fourth place in the kata category “Women, over 35” and thus secured her ticket for the German Championships. Chandra also took part in the state championships. As an experienced athlete, he lived up to expectations and was delighted to take first place.
