After his arrival in Germany in 1999 and his separation from Grandmaster Teruo Hayashi and the International Hayashi-Ha Shito-Ryu Karate-Do Federation, Shihan Athula Minithanthri founded his own karate dojo in Beilstein – Dhammika Karate-Do. Soon afterwards, further dojos were established in Abstatt and the surrounding area, which were grouped together under the name Dhammika Karate-Do Kai Kan. Today, the organisation is active internationally and promotes traditional Shito-Ryu. Since then, the first dojo founded in Beilstein has served as the Hombu Dojo, where Shihan Athula still teaches karate and kobudo as chief instructor.
