New Shito-Ryu DAN holders
Following the 2nd KVBW Shito-Ryu Day 2025, the Shito-Ryu DAN exams were held on 17 May 2025. After an intensive training course from 9:30 am to 3:45 pm, seven dedicated karatekas took on the additional challenge of demonstrating their skills in the DAN exam (up to 5th DAN). Despite the length of the event, the participants remained fit and focused in order to demonstrate their skills impressively in an exam lasting around four hours.
While being observed by the examination committee — consisting of Athula Minithanthri (8th DAN), Joachim Wursthorn (6th DAN) and Jutta Fojkar (5th DAN DKV & 6th DAN Sato-Ha) — the examinees demonstrated their extensive skills. The examinees had to demonstrate their proficiency in the basic techniques (Kihon), the basic katas (Kihon Katas) of the compulsory katas, the compulsory katas themselves, and the corresponding bunkai applications. They were also judged on their Kihon Ippon Kumite, the specific katas required for their respective DAN grade, and finally their Kumite skills.
All the examinees were well prepared and successfully completed the exam. Congratulations to Julien Luigi Loforese, Frank Miller and Sina Jaisle on achieving Shodan; to Oxana Traiber on achieving Nidan; and to Sascha Heneka, Philipp Klemm and Sebastian Möhringer on achieving Sandan. These successes are impressive proof of the hard training, discipline and passion that characterise our karate training.
