Aurelia pulled off a surprise at the German Championships

On 17 May 2025, the German Championships for students took place in Erfurt – an important competition where young athletes put their skills to the test. Dhammika Karate-Do was also represented by three talented young athletes: Luke (who has since left DKD), Emilian and Aurelia.
Luke and Emilian both competed in the “Students B, Kata Male Individual” discipline. While Luke was unfortunately eliminated in the opening round of Pool 4, Emilian initially enjoyed great success. He won his first Pool 1 round with confidence, but was defeated by the pool winner in the second round. Due to the further course of the tournament, he was denied the repechage round, meaning that the tournament unfortunately came to an end for him.
Aurelia surprised everyone with her impressive performance in the “Students B, Kata Female Individual” discipline. She comfortably passed the first round by performing the kata “Matsumura no Rohai”, and after performing the kata “Pachu”, she also reached the pool final. She deservedly reached the final, where she was defeated by her strong opponent, Yasmin Tahiri from USC Duisburg. Despite this, she was given another chance in the repechage round. She entered the second round here, won through successfully, and won the following round too, giving her the opportunity to fight for third place. However, she was narrowly defeated in a nail-biting duel, missing out on the podium by the narrowest of margins.

The young karate kids from Dhammika Karate-Do showed great commitment and strong performances in Erfurt. Aurelia in particular impressed with her fantastic competition and confirmed her great potential. Even if it wasn’t enough for a medal in the end, her performance was a great success.
