Great results at the State championships in Villingen-Schwenningen

On Saturday, 20 April 2024, the KVBW State Championships for U16, U18 and U21 took place in Villingen-Schwenningen. Dhammika Karate-Do took part with four athletes. Melike Cakrak (DKD Abstatt), Steffi and Ruwantha de Silva (Dojo Ditzingen) were there as coaches. As a referee candidate, Dominik de Frenne was also present. Unfortunately, Shihan Athula was not present as a karate judge. He had to travel to Sri Lanka due to family reasons.

Although it is a hard time for him these days, he will have been very happy to hear the news from Germany. All four athletes were able to make it onto the podium or qualify for the German Championships!

He must have been particularly pleased about the final in the Youth U16 Kata. Both Sanidu Hewa from Dhammika Karate-Do Rottenburg and Leon de Silva from SVGG Hirschlanden-Schöckingen made it to the finals and were able to fight it out between their own! The kata performances of Emilia Miller and Linda were also great. In the last few months, both have made great progress and are now also making it to the German Championships!
In addition, out athlete friend Joel Bracher is also going to the German Championships in Erfurt. He finished on the podium three times and was able to defend his State Championships title in kata.

We would like to congratulate all the athletes on their great performances and keep our fingers crossed for them for the DM!
