Looking back at the 2023 German Master Class Championships
On September 30, 2023, the German Master Class Championships took place in Dillingen, Saarland (Germany) and was attended by over 200 participants in the Kata and Kumite categories. Stefanie de Silva from the karate department of the SVGG Hirschlanden-Schöckingen in Ditzingen also took part. She competed in the category “Female 30+ Kata”. It was her first major tournament after taking part in the KVBW state championships in the master class, as she has only been practising karate for just under a year. Her nervousness was particularly noticeable. Unfortunately, she couldn’t quite match her performance in training and missed out on the second round. Nevertheless, it is more than remarkable to qualify for the German Championships in such a short time. Her journey will continue.
With Chandrasiri Hewa from Dhammika Karate-Do Seebronn, an experienced competition athlete also took part. He competed in the men’s over 45 kata category. He showed a strong performance in the first round and well deserved to move on to the next round. In the second round, he showed another strong performance, his strength and expression were convincing. Unfortunately, he only finished second in round 2 and had to compete for the bronze medal. Chandrasiri Hewa again put in a strong performance in the fight for third place and was able to finish in third place with confidence.
We congratulate both athletes on this great experience and are already looking forward to next year.
